"Isn't it a pleasure to learn and at due times to review what you have learned"?
Definitely!
The principle is: use no construction, no form of expression, and no combination of words, that you have not seen in your reading. As to learning English, it's a slow boat to China. Slow but sure.
Before doing the exercise, let me append a song for relaxation.
Enjoy Yourself! It's later than you think.

Enjoy Yourself ! It's later than you think.
You work and work for years and years, you're always on the go
You never take a minute off, too busy makin' dough
Someday, you say, you'll have your fun
when you're a millionaire
Imagine all the fun you'll have in your old rockin' chair
Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.
You're gonna take that ocean trip, no matter, come what may
You've got your reservations made, but you just can't get away
Next year, for sure, you'll see the world, you'll really get around
But how far can you travel when you're six-feet under ground(1)?
Your heart of hearts, your dream of dreams, your ravishing brunet
She's left you and she's now become somebody else's pet.
Lay down that gun don't try my friend to reach the great beyond
You'll have more fun by reaching for a redhead or a blond.
Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.
You never go to nightclubs and you just don't care to dance.
You don't have time for silly things like moonlight and a romance.
You only think of dollar bills tied neatly in a stack
But when you kiss a dollar bill it doesn't kiss you back.
Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think!
Enjoy yourself. While you're still in the pink!
The years go by, As quickly as a wink.
Enjoy yourself. Enjoy yourself. It's later than you think.

six-feet under ground
Uncle Yeti's "Collection of interesting words and phrases" 第125楼

The dictionary defines "Deep Six" as "burial at sea." However, it also means "a grave" in American Slang. In the US, burial regulations stipulates that a person has to be buried six feet below ground: thus the expression of "six feet under."
E.g. I will be six feet under long before you finish your task.
Deep Six is also a slang/idiom that means "dead", "abandoned", "rejected"... E.g. Our proposal has been deep-sixed by the board of governors. (It does not mean ignored, but rejected in a "terminal manner"--i.e. that proposal is dead.)
SDZ's exercise 1:
Of all the petroleum industries that drive China's export economy, petrochemical industry is the
champion. We export 60% of the petrochemicals produced here, and the
entire sector is shining.
对中国出口经济起推动作用的所有石油产业当中,石油化工业独占鳌头。我们生产的石化产品出口份额占60%,整体势头看好。(from Uncle Yeti's reading exercise)
SDZ's exercise 2:
Far away in the grassland gleams the silver brooks. The tramp of wild horses' hoofs sounds from the gravel path. The belated moon looks over the treetops, and its broken light casts here and there in the fields.
snow flower's exercise 1:
Enjoy Your Lives
When I feel tired or depressed, I like to turn on the Media Player and let the exquisite melody fill into my room. I stand by the window, and look at the green leaves flickering on the top of trees. The light leaves are just like crystal mirrores and glinting with the sun shine. Listen, the harmonic music is flowing in the breeze; the beautiful notes are flying out, climbing up to the tall trees, and dancing with leaves.
Lovely creatures always bring pleasure to life. Look up, the little birds are stretching their wings and flying with vivid tones. When tired, they hide on the twigs and have a nap. Watching the vivid life of nature, I wake up; sorrow is leaving out silently, and weariness has gone slowly. It makes me refreshed. I enjoy the fine lives again.
SDZ's exercise 3:
Sand and Stone
This story seems too short to develop a touching and impressive scenario, though I could read what the author implied. I'd rather appreciate the ideas the lines convey than nitpick some minor grammar mistakes. So if I were the narrater, I'd rather start it this way:
This short tale was about an expedition of two good friends through a desert. It all started when they hit the trail and headed for a certain place. You're not going to believe this! During the expedition, one of them got provoked and hit the other in the face due to some mere clashes of opinion.
The one who got the hit was hurt and held his tougue, but wrote in the sand:
"Today my best friend hit me in the face".
After cooling down, they kept walking and walking, and finally came across an oasis, where they decided to clean and freshen themselves up. But when they were close to a waterside, the one whose face suffered unfortunately got stuck in a mire and started drowning, but his friend saved him. After his recovery, he wrote on a stone:
"Today my best friend saved me".
"Well, why did you wrote in the sand after you got the hit, and on a stone when I saved you"? Bewildered his friend.
"When I was hurt, my resentment in the sand would be blown away by the wind", responded the other.
Be a man, and choose to write down your inconsiderable grudge in the sand, and gratefulness on a stone.
"It takes a minute to find someone special, an hour to appreciate them, a day to get to like and love them, but it takes a lifetime to forget them".
Send this to those who will be never softened in your memories, and also to the person who sent this to you.
Enjoy yourself! While you're still in the pink! :-)
SDZ's exercise 4:
If someone hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they have helped you learn about trust and vigilance when you open your heart. If someone loves you, love them back unconditionally, not only because they love you, but because in a way, they are teaching you to love and how to open your heart and eyes to things.
Make every day count. Let yourself be in a thankful heart, break free, and set your sights high. Create your own life and live it with absolutely no regrets.
snow flower's exercise 2:
I was moved by the short tale when I read it through. Maybe it could be enriched with some details, but I think we can feel many particulars while listening to the music appended.
That is a good story to express an idea of life.
SDZ's exercise 5:
I paced unaccompanied on the path across the meadow while the sunset was concealing its last gold like a pinchfist.
The daylight sank deeper and deeper into the darkness, and the lonely land, whose inhabitants had finished a day's work, lay silent.
